Are you currently using PayPal to process online donations for your nonprofit but aren’t all that thrilled with the experience your online donors are having?
Do we have news for you! We’re excited to share that PayPal is now integrated with our LGL Forms feature, giving you lots more control over the types of information you can collect and sync to your Little Green Light database. In addition, when you use PayPal in conjunction with the functionality included with LGL Forms, you can ensure a better online donation experience for your donors as well.
Here are a few reasons why using LGL Forms with PayPal can accelerate your online fundraising:
Reason #1: A prompt, personal acknowledgment can be automatically sent as soon as the gift is processed.
Whether you’re receiving a one-time gift or a recurring donation from an online donor, it’s imperative to send a personal gift acknowledgement right away. LGL Forms includes a built-in confirmation email feature, which enables you to automatically send a personal thank you each time a gift is processed.
Penelope Burke, author of Donor Centered Fundraising, is a vocal proponent of proper gift acknowledgment. She doesn’t just doesn’t think it’s important—her research proves it. When Burke polled donors, 84 percent said they would give again to an organization if they received a personalized thank you that specifically acknowledged what their gift benefited. So, having an automated process can go a long way toward helping you to accelerate your online fundraising!
Reason #2: More payment options for your donors (especially your tech-savvy Millennials…)
The 2015 Millennial Impact Report indicated that 84 percent of Millennial workers surveyed made a charitable donation in the last year. That’s a huge potential donor pool for your nonprofit! Of course, to attract them, it’s important that we reach them where they’re at. As a mother of three Millennials, I chuckled while reading an article from Robin Raskin on the Huffington Post. He starts by saying, “My son and I live on different planets where money is concerned.” I couldn’t agree more! My super tech-savvy kids have grown up with mobile phones in their hands and aren’t afraid to use them.
Raskin shared about a study from PayPal and Koski Research that found that Millennials love paying with tech and are willing, even eager, to use new payment systems. More than that, a third of Millennials consider credit cards to be “old school” and over 70% say that they think credit cards are not secure. The study also found that 63% do not have a credit card and would find using plastic cards “annoying.”
This all means that by offering a payment solution like PayPal in your donation forms, you are one step closer to meeting your Millennials where they’re at.
With the inclusion of PayPal in LGL Forms, you can also give your online donors a choice, one that is certain to help you accelerate your online fundraising. With LGL Forms, it is possible to allow donors to make an online donation using their credit card, or pay with their PayPal account. Better yet, both options can be made available in a single LGL Form, letting the donor decide which option works best for them.
Reason #3: Friendlier, branded donation forms make it easier for your donors to connect deeply with your mission.
When you make it easy for your donors to donate online, you’re bound to accelerate your online fundraising. Network for Good’s 2015 Digital Giving Index report showed a 17% increase in donations to organizations who had a custom, branded donation page that was personalized and offered custom gift options. With LGL Forms, you can create forms to embed right on your website and design them to look and feel just like your brand. When you pair the power of PayPal donations with the flexibility of LGL Forms, you’re setting yourself up for success!
Reason #4: Easy-to-use mobile-responsive forms reduce friction for your donors and increase the success rate of online donations.
Not only can you provide donors with a choice of payment options using PayPal, but you can also make it easy for your donors to donate from any device, including their mobile phones, when you use LGL Forms.
Did you know that 51% of traffic to nonprofit websites occurs on a mobile device? Given this, it is vital to ensure your donation form displays just as well on a phone or tablet as it does on a computer. In case you need proof of why this is important, check out this infographic from Mobile Cause that shows mobile-responsive donation forms receive 34% more donations than non-responsive pages:
