What exactly is #GivingTuesday?
According to givingtuesday.org, #Giving Tuesday allows us as a society to focus on giving thanks. In the U.S., two days are all about getting deals (Black Friday and Cyber Monday). Now, there’s #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
2014 marks the third year of #GivingTuesday, and according to a Blackbaud report published after last year’s event, 2013’s online giving was up 90 percent on #GivingTuesday compared to 2012, with the average online gift of $142.05 up from $101.60 in 2012.
