Are you participating in Give Local America?

Posted February 4, 2016 by Hunter Williams

May 3, 2016 marks a major day of fundraising across the U.S., kind of like a #GivingTuesday in the Spring. What started as a few local campaigns has blossomed into an enormous collection of fundraising efforts under the banner Give Local America! Many local foundations offer matching funds or prize money to nonprofits based on donations collected through this event.

The equivalent day in 2015 raised over $68 million in donations across more than 9,000 participating nonprofits.

The map below shows all of the local foundations participating in these May 3rd events. Clicking on the map will take you to the Give Local America! website, where you can see if your local foundation is participating. If your local foundation is not yet participating, the site offers these resources to help you encourage your foundation to participate (if not this year, then next year).

This 24-hour online giving event is a great opportunity for non-profits of all sizes to reach new donors and strengthen relationships with existing donors, but you’ll want to make sure you have a plan in place before the big day arrives! For tips on how to make the most of your 24-hour fundraising campaign, check out our case study ARF’s online giving appeal raises $15,000 in 24 hours!, a blog post from LGL customer Alamo Rescue Friends (ARF) we featured last year.
