LGL is pleased to be part of a growing grassroots movement to empower small and medium nonprofits to benefit from fundraising data tailored to their specific needs. By participating in Third Space Studio’s Individual Donor Benchmark project, you’ll join with other small but mighty nonprofits with budgets under $2 million and receive valuable information about your fundraising programs and how they compare to others of similar size.
Building on the past
For four years running, the Individual Donor Benchmark Project has collected donor data from nonprofits nationwide with budgets under $2 million to fill a donor data void. Last year, the project uncovered some exciting “universal truths,” which have helped nonprofits enhance their fundraising efforts and find great success.
Several “universal truths” identified in the 2014 report included:
- The single most important thing you can do to strengthen your individual donor fundraising is to create a plan.
- The average small but mighty nonprofit raises 36 percent of its revenue from individual donors.
- About 16 percent of individual donor revenue is generated online.
Heather Yandow of Third Space Studio said, “By participating in the survey, nonprofits can gain valuable data and additional resources to understand their donor potential and enhance fundraising strategies. This survey is incredibly valuable to any group looking to grow a program or simply understand how your fundraising results compare to like-sized organizations.”
As the IDB project enters its fifth year, the number of survey participants and the wide-reaching impact of the Report continue to grow. Last year’s Individual Donor Benchmark Report gained national attention through being featured in the Stanford Social Innovation Review and Nonprofit Technology Network.
