New and improved PayPal integration for LGL Forms

Posted November 25, 2024 by Hunter Williams

improved PayPal integration with LGL Form

Little Green Light has built a new integration for using PayPal as your payment processor in LGL Forms. The PayPal Complete Payments integration uses a completely new and improved platform provided by PayPal and provides three big benefits for LGL Forms users.

Benefit #1: New PayPal integration supports recurring donations

Unlike our previous integration with PayPal, this new PayPal integration supports credit card payments for recurring donations. In the past, recurring donations required the donor to use their PayPal account.

Benefit #2: PayPal Complete Payments includes Venmo as a payment option

This new PayPal integration includes Venmo as a payment option. This means a donor (or event registrant) can complete the payment step for your LGL Forms in their Venmo app.

Benefit #3: GooglePay is now available as a checkout option

The new PayPal integration includes Google Pay as a checkout option. This option is only available for one-time payments, not for recurring payments, and it also requires the payer to be logged into a Chrome browser or to be using an Android device.

Using PayPal Complete Payments in LGL Forms

PayPal Complete Payments is now available in all LGL Forms accounts. If you go to set up a new payment processor in your LGL Forms account and you select the PayPal option, then you will in fact be using the PayPal Complete Payments integration. See our Knowledge Base article on how to set this up.

PayPal Complete Payments is a separate integration altogether from our earlier PayPal integration, so if you currently use PayPal in LGL Forms you will need to actively add this new connected payment processor in your LGL Forms account. Once you’ve added this new PayPal integration, you can then update your forms so they use this new version going forward instead of the older version.

Using Stripe in combination with PayPal

Our previous PayPal integration was something you could add to a form that you had set to use Stripe. In other words, you used to be able to use Stripe and PayPal together. However, this new integration is not yet available to combine with Stripe. This is something we’re looking into, but for now you would need to choose either Stripe or PayPal Complete Payments as the payment processor for any given form. If you already have forms that use both Stripe and PayPal, then we recommend leaving those as-is until we make the update that supports the combination of Stripe with the new PayPal Complete Payments version.
