Maryland Hillel uses LGL and MailChimp to send targeted emails

Posted May 13, 2014 by Hunter Williams

The Problem

Maryland Hillel has many thousands of constituents and wanted to send customized emails based on matching the affiliations their constituents have to their organization.

The Solution

Maryland Hillel uses a variety of attributes in their LGL account to create segments of constituents, using values such as parent, butnot alum‚ and so forth. They sync these lists with segments in their MailChimp account. Now they can seamlessly manage lists in LGL and then send customized emails to these segments through MailChimp.

Step by Step

1. Maryland Hillel manages their lists in LGL for donors, parents, and so on.
2. Each list is synced up with a segment in MailChimp, and they can see exactly how many records are synced up at any time.

Benefit

Becca Cohen, Development Associate at Maryland Hillel, reports that this integration has made it easy to build lists and keep them synced up for their many emails. “We send out four different newsletters: to students, parents, donors, and alumni. With this system we can keep those lists updated easily, and we don’t have to worry about updating at MailChimp; it just happens. And MailChimp is really easy to use, much easier than our old system.”

How To

Once you have a MailChimp account, you can connect it to your LGL account and start syncing up lists of constituents between your two accounts. Read our how-to article to get started.
