LGL Pro Tip: Share insights and gain expertise from the LGL Dashboard

You may already know that the LGL Dashboard provides a variety of widgets to help you visualize data and gain insight into donor behavior. If you haven’t already explored the available widgets, see The LGL Dashboard for a review of how they work (a highlight is the Favorite Lists widget).

While these widgets are a great way to view your data, you can also share them in reports or communications sent to other staff or your Board by downloading one or more as an image file. To download a dashboard widget as an image, click the “download” icon in the upper-right corner and select the JPG or PNG option:

These widgets help you learn more about how to use LGL, too, especially because they can help increase your comfort with searching. LGL uses pre-built searches to generate onscreen totals and graphics in the widgets, and any numbers displayed in green or blue are clickable links that will take you directly to the searches used to generate the data.

You can repurpose these search links for other work you need to do in LGL. For example, if you want to follow up with your recaptured donors, you can click that number from within the “Total Raised by Retention Status” widget:

Clicking this number will direct you to the search LGL uses to calculate it, and you will see the names of your recaptured donors in the results. Once you open the search, you can perform bulk actions on the constituent records, export a report, or pull the constituents into a mailing.

Overall, it is helpful to view these searches as building blocks of knowledge you can learn from. When you view the searches in detail, you have the ability to add and remove elements to fine-tune the results. Experimenting with search criteria can give you a deeper understanding of your organization’s data.
