GivingTuesday is coming up! If your organization is looking for creative ways to engage your supporters on this day of giving, why not incorporate #GivingTuesdayKids into your efforts?
Started by Khloe Thompson, age 12, who makes toiletry bags for homeless women in her community, #GivingTuesdayKids takes the spirit of #GivingTuesday to a new level. On the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving, young people across the globe will lead volunteer projects and commit acts of kindness as part of #GivingTuesday’s mission to build a more just and generous world.
Some kids collect hats and mittens for the homeless, make blankets for the local animal shelter, or sell cupcakes to raise money for a domestic violence shelter. The options are as varied as the needs. The important thing is that kids find a way to make a difference.
The kids are in charge, but your organization can still get involved. Brainstorm projects that would benefit your mission, and communicate those ideas with your supporters as well as with local teachers and after-school programs. Share your ideas in advance to give kids time to make a plan for their volunteer projects and recruit their friends to help.
Need some inspiration? Learn how the #GivingTuesdayKids ambassadors are harnessing the power of #GivingTuesday to inspire youth to change the world. After the big day, do your part to spread that inspiration by sharing your organization’s #GivingTuesdayKids projects with your supporters.
