2020 Nonprofit Conferences to consider

The 2020 Nonprofit Conference season is beginning for the team here at Little Green Light, and we thought you might be interested in which events caught our eye this year.

Each year, we evaluate nonprofit conferences across the U.S., both large and small, and decide which ones will best afford us the opportunity to share the LGL love with new and existing customers alike. There are a few conferences that we attend yearly, as well as a few new ones that look interesting.

Here are our top picks for the 2020 Nonprofit Conference season.

AFP International Conference on Fundraising (AFP ICON) – Baltimore, MD

This annual event is touted as the world’s largest conference for fundraising professionals, attracting over 3,500 attendees. It is being held on the East Coast this year, March 29-31, 2020, and there will be loads of educational sessions to choose from, including a two-day Fundraising Fundamentals course!

NH Center for Nonprofits Conference – Concord, NH

This one-day event, to be held on May 11, 2020, is geared to the nonprofit professional at any level. There are educational tracks of all types: Fundraising, Marketing, Leadership & Governance, Human Resources, Operations & Technology, and Finance.

AFP – Advancement Northwest WA Forum on Strategic Fundraising – Seattle, WA

This annual conference is a favorite of LGL staffers. AFP Advancement Northwest is one of the largest Association of Fundraising Professionals chapters in the world, with nearly 1,000 members. Its annual event takes place on June 11-12 at the Washington State Convention Center in Seattle.

Land Trust Rally – Portland, OR

This annual conference for land conservation organizations is hosted by the Land Trust Alliance. The Rally, as it is affectionately known, will occur on October 8-10, 2020, in Portland, OR. Over 2,000 land conservation practitioners will in attendance. Curious what it’s like to be there? For a preview, check out this video.

Nonprofit Storytelling Conference – Chicago, IL

This annual conference is geared toward anyone who communicates with donors and needs to raise money. Attendees are from both small and large organizations, representing all types of nonprofits, including healthcare, education, social services, environmental organizations, religious organizations, and food banks. This year’s event will take place on October 29-31, 2020.

AFP – Northern New England Conference – Manchester, NH

The AFP-NNE annual conference is a two-day conference that connects practitioners of philanthropy from all across northern New England. The conference take place November 11-13, 2020, with the first day being dedicated to a full-day, intensive Academy.

There are so many excellent nonprofit conferences to attend but only so much time to actually go! So, in addition to those that we plan to attend, we’ve decided to sponsor a few events as well. These include:

  1. Timi, a great service from LGL! Thank you. Other than the AFP International Conference, the regional conferences don’t get much visibility outside of their local area. You might want to consider the AFP-NJ annual Conference On Philanthropy on Nov. 19 in Bridgewater NJ. This event, now 40 years old, brings together nearly 300 fundraising professionals to hear top speakers, many of whom have presented at the AFP International Conference. Great opportunity for LGL too!
